The work in the phase III involves construction of two, T-shaped and rectangular, accommodation blocks, which will be built on the southern edge of the development. The two buildings will offer 148 study bedrooms.
Designed by Pascal + Watson, the residential units will be set in a cluster of six and eight bedrooms. Each cluster will be complete with a kitchen and dining area, single study bedrooms with ensuite shower rooms. The company will also build a covered bicycle stand for 72 bicycles.
The project will include the sustainability practices and principles that were imbibed in the former phases, such as high levels of insulation and green ‘sedum’ roofs. It will follow BREEAM ‘Excellent’ programme of Phase I.
The construction on phase III is expected to entail an outlay of £6 million ($9.66 million) and is slated for completion by June 2013. The company has completed development of 14 halls of residence in phase I and three accommodation blocks in phase II. Upon completion, all the residences will be connected by means of extensions to the existing roads, pathways and landscaped areas.
