Who Meet the founders of Shepherd&: Timothy Shepherd, Freda Shepherd, Sara Rosellini, and Marko Gligorov. Each brings a wealth of experience and expertise from prestigious design firms around the globe. Founded in 2024, Shepherd& operates as an atelier rather than a conventional design firm, eschewing rigid categories in favour of a more fluid and collaborative approach. This unique philosophy allows the studio to harness creativity and innovation across various sectors. With studios in London’s Soho and the historic 16th Arrondissement of Paris, Shepherd& is poised for continued growth and innovation in luxury hospitality, residential design, and commercial projects, as it embarks on exciting new ventures, including a hotel launch in London and a residential project in Majorca.

Why The inception of Shepherd& was driven by a shared vision among the founders, who previously collaborated in various capacities within the design industry. Their collective knowledge and experience inspired them to create a studio that prioritises creativity and collaboration. The ampersand in Shepherd& symbolises not just the founding members but also the partnerships and relationships cultivated over years in the field. The studio’s first major project, The Shepherd Mayfair, is an 82-key hotel that combines architecture, interiors and art, showcasing the founders’ commitment to high-quality design and attention to detail. In addition to their project work, Timothy Shepherd will serve on the judging panel for the World Architecture Festival (WAF) in Miami this November, solidifying the studio’s presence in the design community.

Apparatus gallery

While serving as MD interior design at Buckley Gray Yeoman, Timothy Shepherd led the design team for Apparatus, a gallery in London that resonates with its architectural and geographic context. The space, located in a listed building, showcases a distinct aesthetic that honours the legacy of its previous occupant, the designer John Pawson. The project highlights the studio’s commitment to creating spaces that celebrate both design and history.

The Shepherd Mayfair

Nestled in the historic Shepherd Market, The Shepherd hotel pays tribute to Mayfair’s rich history while offering a contemporary twist. This project embodies the studio’s ethos of blending architecture and design to create a unique guest experience. Timothy Shepherd emphasises the importance of narrative in the atelier’s work, stating: ‘We created and continually developed the narrative of The Shepherd Mayfair with attention paid to a carefully combined architectural and design approach.’ The hotel features bespoke elements that reflect the area’s character.

Patrizia HQ

As part of his work at Buckley Gray Yeoman, Timothy Shepherd led the sustainable refurbishment of a Grade II listed building, transforming it into a contemporary workplace for 200 employees at investment management company Patrizia. The project emphasises sustainability, utilising recycled materials to significantly reduce embodied carbon. With a focus on achieving net-zero operations and certitications such as BREEAM Excellent and WiredScore Gold, this project exemplifies Shepherd&’s dedication to environmentally responsible design.
