Renovation of the 30 year-old venue home of the basketball teams is the final piece of renovation of the university’s athletic department facilities. The massive athletic department facilities facelift consists of six facilities within a new athletics district- baseball, softball and soccer stadiums, a football practice facility, basketball practice center and the renovated Sun Dome. All these projects are led by Populous.
Reconfigurations for the 10,000-seat arena will include construction of a seating bowl that wraps around the court, a new club lounge, loge boxes and a new large concourse featuring upgraded concessions, restrooms, ticket offices and a team store.
Bill McGillis, executive associate director of athletics for USF has stated that the new Sun Dome and athletics district will transform the campus, with its location in a high profile, highly viable area.
