The property on Foregate Street, has been leased out to Primark Stores by the owners Redevco UK Ltd. The renovated store is expected to be open towards the end of 2009.

The project aims to revamp the store’s frontage and create a 6,000 square feet first floor rear extension and staircase for the Primark refurbishment. The plans also include creating a double-height shop front and a glazing to cover the poor quality of the building’s frontage.

However, largescale changes are not contemplated because the building showcases architectural designs of 1960s and 1970s, a look that the new owners want to retain.

The Woolworths store, which occupied this premises, had closed last November after falling into administration. Redevco UK Ltd. is a part of Cofra Holding, a company that manages retail real estate portfolios.
