To be completed in three years, the project involves transformation of the main concourse and enhancement to many clinical areas of the hospital. The renovated hospital will feature several pieces of art work from the local arts community. The artworks will be in sync with the look and feel of the space and contribute to the hospital’s healing environment.
Work on the project is underway, with alterations being made to the east entry, second-floor lobby and adjacent areas which will deliver a beautiful new central concourse for the hospital. The new concourse will feature a pharmacy, gift shop, family resource centre, coffee shop and greeter’s desk.
The project also involves development of a new cafe with a 300-seat dining area, which will enclose a courtyard. The cafe will be a bright space, which will be marked for its inviting layout.
The project will also redevelop several clinical areas of the hospital, consisting of intensive care, surgery, neurology, oncology and general surgery; which will be upgraded to the modern standards.
ProHealth Care has committed $18.3 million to the project so far and is expected to contribute more amount as the work continues.
