The Birchview House features continuous planes of floor-to-ceiling glass in key spaces, a design aspect that is aimed at blurring the relationship between the interior and natural environment. The effect is accentuated by movement of textures and colours from outside to inside.
The bedrooms and private spaces of the Birchview house are laid out with cream-coloured stone slabs. The residential wing is separated from the two-storey entertainment space by a birch plywood screen with a CNC-punched landscape pattern. The screen also projects a playful pattern into the hallway during the day while at night, the illuminated lights throw a glow on the screen adding to the decor.
The entertainment space consists of a two-storey grand foyer and space that extends into the back-yard with an indoor-outdoor pool. The space is wrapped in vertically-oriented Brazilian Ipe.
The kitchen, dining and family room are contained within the extended corten-steel arms of the living volume. The kitchen and dining areas feature sliding glass doors that open out to the exterior while a cantilevered void between the living space contains the family room.
