The project will raise the size of the existing domestic and international departure lounges by over 50% with creation of an extension on the northeastern corner of the terminal. The extension will span 570 square metres in size. The departure expansion work will be executed by Rilean Construction. The project will also involve creation of additional security screening lanes as well as emigration booths.
Further, work will include construction of a 170 square metre extension for a new restroom block. The block will be situated at the southwest end of the terminal near the baggage reclaim space. The concourse’s main restroom block too, will undergo expansion and reconfiguration. In addition, both the international and the domestic baggage claim will be equipped with one new large baggage belt each.
Bulk of the project work is due to be over by mid-September 2012.
