The Radford University Baseball Field has already received a new playing surface and drainage system. New dugouts were also added last year. The stadium will receive a completely different look, thanks to private donations of about $400,000. Lights to play night games will be installed on the field, and a 700-seat new grandstand will also be added.

All these improvements will be undertaken as part of a three-part plan to help make intercollegiate baseball and softball at Radford more competitive.

Phase one of the project is scheduled to begin shortly, and phase two and three’s timetable depend on the success of the fundraising. Under the phase two renovation scheme, a new softball stadium will be placed beside the baseball stadium. The new stadium will have a similar look to the baseball design. Phase three includes construction of an entrance to the entire facility along with a new clubhouse for both teams and an indoor hitting and pitching arena.

Situated along the banks of the New River the 2007-built Radford University Baseball Field features challenging dimensions, with straightaway centre at exactly 400ft. The press box is an enclosed facility that has ample seating and amenities for working media and game staff. It includes a climate control system that maintains a comfortable temperature inside.

On the field level are located dugouts for both teams, designed to match the architecture of the Dedmon Center and surrounding buildings, as well as batting cages adjacent to the field on the first base side. The facility includes six dedicated batting cages, with the necessary equipment and amenities for either live pitching or machine pitching.
