Lee County and the Boston Red Sox have completed rezoning of the 126-acre site. The project includes a 10,000 seat state-of-the-art ballpark, parking and other amenities.

Although no drawings of the stadium have been released, the design of the new facility is intended to mirror Fenway Park, the team’s home ballpark since 1912. It will also reflect the rich architectural heritage of the Southwest Florida Lee County area. The facility at the Watermen-Pinnacle site on Daniels Parkway will feature the same outfield dimensions as the Red Sox Boston home.

The stadium and practice facility is scheduled to be ready for 2012 spring training.
