The project will add nearly 50% more square footage area to the North Coast region’s busiest emergency department, which will total just more than 13,500 square feet.
Post completion, the expanded emergency department and trauma center will feature 27 fully enclosed rooms, including 26 private patient rooms and one triage room. This will allow the region’s only designated level II trauma center to treat more critically ill and injured patients, at least 50,000 patients or more per year.
The expansion of the ED and trauma center is scheduled to be completed by early 2014. The $15 million expansion and renovation project currently received a boost from Ernest L. and Ruth W. Finley Foundation, which granted $2 million. The project broke ground in May 2012.
