Renovation involves the complete refurbishment of the facility. The built-in bookcases lining the walls have been refinished and the windows have been restored. A new circulation desk forms the centerpiece of the main room.
The elevator and a new door will give visitors access to the courtyard from inside the library. A new roof has been designed to keep the building warmer in the winter and cooler during the summer. Additionally the building will include a new water fountain on the main floor and a new drop box out front.
The new plans include new restrooms on both levels, an elevator, a children’s area, employee lounge, staff offices and a book sales and storage room for the Friends of the Library in the basement.
The library is expected to open in August 2011.
