Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust has planned to build a new GBP90 million ($140.5 million approx) CTC, which will be the first building in a phased development that will ultimately deliver an integrated cancer center.
The trust wishes to ensure that the full design team is committed to both the design and delivery of the new CTC and the competition seeks expressions of interest from contractor/architect teams with the capacity and imagination to deliver the project. The successful consortia will need to strike a balance that considers cost, long term value and architecture, to generate an outstanding vision and then, to work with the client and other key stakeholders, to see it through to completion. The competition jury panel will include architects Simon Allford and Spencer de Grey.
The competition will follow a multi-stage process with upto six teams taking part in the design phase, each receiving an honorarium of £20,000 (plus VAT). In the first instance, the competition seeks expressions of interest from consortia which must as a minimum include a contractor, architect, and engineers. During the course of the competition, teams will be invited to meet and discuss their designs with stakeholders and end users of the building.
The deadline for application is March 25, 2010.
