During last week’s TED2017 conference a robotic dog called Spot was showcased to be our future postman.

The creator of Spot, Boston  Dynamics were seeking commercial uses for the robot. The company found that delivering packages could save time and money so have trained the robot to deliver packages to employees’ doorsteps (and may well be delivering packages to your door very soon).

Founder of Boston Dynamics, Marc Raibert said there are about 70 per cent there. The Google-owned firm has a rage of robots including Spot, the four-legged dog who already carries packages on its back and delivers successfully.

‘We've been taking our robot to employees' homes to see whether we could get in the various access ways,’ said Marc Raibert, at the conference. ‘We're doing very well, about 70 per cent of the way.’

The company also launched the Handle robot, which is able to leap on two wheels while the Atlas ‘humanioid’ can manage difficult terrain and has the ability to push itself back up.
