The birth centre is part of a three-storey expansion plans of Rosie Maternity Hospital costing £30 million ($47.63 million).
The new baby birth centre accommodates 10 rooms, with each room featuring birthing pools. The new purpose-built unit has replaced the Midwife-led unit on level 2. The delivery unit will remain on level 3 of the Rosie Hospital.
Designed for women who have not had any complications during pregnancy and are expecting to have a normal birth, the Rosie birth centre provides continuous one-to-one midwifery-led care for women when they are in active labour.
Rosie birth centre was opened on 3 September 2012.
