The redeveloped facility features five outpatient clinic areas, a new reception area and a new lift to the basement which transports equipment used in the community to a cleaning, resource and storage area.
The ground floor of the rehabilitation centre features rooms for outpatient clinics, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech language therapy. The facility also offers special rooms with hoists, three-bedrooms and six one-bedrooms with ensuites, upgraded assisted daily living flat, which will help people to rehabilitate.
A renovated medication and clean utility area, along with outpatient clinic area and 2 x dirty utility areas are also part of the facility.
There is also potential for further development in the basement area at a later stage. The redeveloped OPRS will include a dedicated area for people who have had strokes. This will comprise a two-bed (acute) integrated stroke unit with a cardiac telemetry monitoring facility.
Upon completion, the stroke treatment unit will provide an acute TIA service. Rehabilitation will be provided in a dedicated area under the care of an interdisciplinary team experienced in stroke rehabilitation including nominated stroke physicians.
The Older Persons & Rehabilitation Service (OPRS) rehabilitation centre opened its doors to the patients on 17 May 2013.
