The project has been designed by LB Architects, PC and developed by Islandia, New York-based construction firm Stalco Construction. The fit out has been carried out on a 50,000 square feet area housing the firm’s executive, administrative, and operations offices. These buildings are situated inside CA headquarters campus spanning 778,000 square feet at Islandia’s One CA Plaza.
The building has been equipped with a glass wall measuring 400 feet along the mezannine’s perimeter in the second level as part of the project. The wall comprises 80 tapered panels made of glass along with three sets of doors. Work also includes creation of nine new executive offices, four conference rooms, an employee cafeteria, IT and telecommunications room, reception zone as well as a spacious mail sorting room spanning 2,400 square feet.
The mailroom has been adorned with magnetic tile flooring system from Konecto to allow for easy replacement without demolition. The cafe has been fitted with new laminate flooring. The IT and telecommunication room now incorporates custom fire suppression system, climate control systems and enhanced power supply.
Every ceiling in the facility was substituted following the overhaul with 250 current workstations being shifted to open areas. To withstand the cold temperature of the building owing to its huge dimensions, the firm has made use of the facility’s large atrium area and built a full-height wall of glass. The wall enables optimum passage of natural light in the offices.
Other features of the facelift include improvements to the facility’s HVAC, electrical, lighting and fire suppression facilities.
Various original architectural structures of the building had been reused in the project which includes the elevated computer flooring placed below the complete facility. It helped in phasing out wire management problems and facilitated the design of the open plan workstations zone. The project had a duration of five weeks.
