The skatepark has been designed by Spectrum Skatepark Creations and incorporates the heritage of Rossland. The design is particularly inspired from the history of the Emcon lot as the old rail yard. It features train tracks, a pole jam made from train tracks, and the fencing that parallels Washington and mimics the look of railway cross-bracing and tie.
A shade structure has also been incorporated in the southwest of the park. The design team is in talks with locals for donating a timber frame shade structure. It will provide protection from rain, and shade in the afternoon. The team is also considering the possibility of extending the structure in use into three and possibly four seasons.
The park will span 12,000 square feet and will entail an investment of CAD600,000 ($595, 415). Construction on the scheme is scheduled to begin in 2013.
