The five-storey facility aims at expanding the opportunities for comprehensive, personalised and high-quality care for the children of Central Texas. It will be built adjacent to McLane Children’s Hospital Scott & White in Temple. The facility will bring both outpatient and inpatient pediatric specialty services and physicians in one convenient location.
The 112,000 square feet building will have a total of 135 exam rooms, 13 treatment rooms and eight specialty rooms. A drive-through pharmacy, diagnostic imaging, and laboratory services will also be part of the new building. The multi-specialty clinic building will house more than 80 specialised physicians, residents and fellows, and approximately 200 support staff.
The Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Center is a key feature of the new building. The new center will span 8,000 square feet, more than doubling the size of the existing pediatric cancer centre. There will be two treatment rooms and nine infusion bays, all designed with children in mind, creating a comfortable and inviting environment for all.
The building will also feature a Pediatric Neurosciences Center, which will house services including, child psychiatry, neurology, neurosurgery, neuropsychology, and child development. It will also provide care for children who have psychological, social, and neurological issues. The building will also include specialty clinics that treat cystic fibrosis, cerebral palsy, and cleft palate to better serve the children of Central Texas.
The building is being constructed on the McLane Children’s campus to allow for future expansion for a new hospital bed tower. Construction on the new clinic is expected to take 14 months with the building scheduled to open by the fall of 2013.
