SeaSpace, a brand operating in the lifestyle ‘aparthotel’ (apartment/hotel) sector, has launched Cornwall’s largest padel tennis club.
The five-court facility, dedicated to the increasingly popular racquet sport that is a cross between tennis and squash, is located on the site of SeaSpace’s aparthotel in Porth.
The club includes three double courts and two single courts, the only single courts in the Southwest, under a newly reinforced roof for year-round, all-weather play. Programming spans social tournaments, coaching, taster sessions, junior training, and ‘Padel & Pint’ nights, with an open invitation for locals, guests and day visitors to get involved.
The padel launch completes SeaSpace’s transformation of the former Sands Resort site into a 56-key aparthotel offering design-led studios and apartments, a reimagined health club, family amenities and the newly opened Tallo restaurant and bar.
SeaSpace Padel Club is operated in partnership with UK Padel, a leading body for the sport’s development and growth across the country.
Ben Harper, CEO of SeaSpace, stated: ‘Padel perfectly captures the kind of experience we want SeaSpace to represent: active, social, and easy to engage with. It’s more than a sport, it’s a scene, and we see real potential for padel to anchor our wider leisure and community offering. We’re proud to be bringing a facility of this scale to the Cornish coast, and to be setting a benchmark for what sport can look like in the context of a lifestyle hospitality model.’
With planning approved for future expansion on site and talks underway for additional locations, SeaSpace is positioning padel as a key asset within a broader leisure ecosystem for guests, locals, and the UK staycation market alike.
