Dalton-Killinger Construction is constructing both the projects. The district is building a 39,800 square feet intermediate school for $7 million and adding to the existing high school. Cook said that the latter work is estimated at $4.4 million. Both projects were made possible in 2009 after district voters approved a $10 million bond issue. The new intermediate school will be built next to the existing elementary school.
Cook said that the reason behind the delay was to get approval from the Federal Emergency Management Agency for a storm shelter to be built with the intermediate building, and to access interest-free bonds available through the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act.
