The new skatepark will replace the one demolished in 2008, to make way for a $55 million civic center. The project would be funded by Vista’s redevelopment agency.
Site Design Group of Solana Beach has been asked to design the facility, enhancing it as a storm-water detention basin in east Vista, according to redevelopment director William Rawlings. The design of the arena is expected to be finalized by late 2009.
Site Design Group’s portfolio includes the Magdalena-Ecke YMCA skatepark in Encinitas, the Carmel Valley Skatepark, and the Escondido Sports Complex Skatepark. Site Design specializes in public and private skateparks, bike parks, moto parks, and progressive action sport facilities.
