Under the terms of the contract, the joint venture firm will build a 24,000 square meter ambulatory care facility as well as a parking garage to accommodate 1,355 passenger vehicles. Both the hospital and the parking garage will be built adjacent to the main hospital building of the University Medical Center.
The University Medical Center will be 424-bed hospital which will have a total area of 560,000 square foot. Major project components will also include an adjoining 746,982 square feet diagnostic and treatment center.
Skanska commands 90% stake in the project, which amounts to almost $118 million. Construction on the hospital is underway with the hospital expected to open in February 2015.
The new contract is the Skanska’s second contract for the new University Medical Center.
