To be built next to the existing Children’s Pavilion, across the street from the VCU Medical Center, the pipeline Children’s Pavilion at Children’s Hospital of Richmond will be an approximately 60,000 square metre facility. The project has been designed by HKS Incorporated.
The new hospital will accommodate 72 exam rooms; a surgical area including two operating and two procedure rooms; diagnostic testing area; and imaging centres and laboratories. The building will also have paediatrics administrative offices as well as an attached parking garage with 600 parking spaces.
The scheme will include host of green elements and is being aspired to achieve LEED Silver certification. Construction of the new Children’s Pavilion at Children’s Hospital of Richmond began in mid-September 2012 and is slated for completion in August 2015.
The new hospital will be the largest and most advanced outpatient facility dedicated to children in the region.
