The new lounge consists of 350m2 of space and can accommodate 90 passengers.

Representing SkyTeam’s spirit of “caring more about you,” the lounge features a business centre with printing facilities and complimentary Wi-Fi; a relaxation zone with oxygen bar and massage chairs; a bar and buffet; more than 70 electric power sockets; and a reading area.

Inspired by the flagship venue at London Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 4, the lounge features a modern design with rounded shapes throughout, signature bronze pendant lighting and curved furnishings.

It also features a separate viewing room with TV.

Large picture windows are included on two of the four walls for natural light.

The third living wall with different plant species creates a vertical jungle-like atmosphere.

The lounge serves elite plus, first and business class customers on any of the alliance’s 10 airlines that serve Istanbul.

Mr Michael Wisbrun, SkyTeam Managing Director stated: “We are working to fast-track initiatives that augment the benefits we offer and this new lounge delivers a superior airport experience for customers, while realising synergies for our members serving Istanbul.”

The opening of the Istanbul lounge forms a significant part of the SkyPort initiative to improve the travel experience for passengers.

As part of this initiative, SkyTeam plans to open two more lounges in Sydney by the end of 2013 and in Beijing in 2014.

Other SkyPort projects include the co-location of check-in and airport ticket office facilities at a growing number of airports globally,” the statement said.

The lounge will serve more than 70,000 visitors per year.
