Sound of Silence garden was inspired by the ancient Zen riddle known as koan which is used as a meditational exercise along the road to enlightenment. A notable element of the garden was thermoformed mountains made of solid surface HI-MACS.

Fabricated into spectacular dimensions, the HI-MACS mountains were conceived as floating in a sea of gravel, symbolising water, against a 60-year old bonsai tree, and with a back screen made of English Yew. These elements were incorporated to provide clues in search for the garden’s deeper significance.

Fernando Gonzalez chose HI-MACS for its thermoformable properties and seamless joints. The material offers limitless possibilities, great functionality and a high quality finish. HI-MACS also claims to be thermoformable to any three dimensional shape, is impervious to moisture, permanently colour-fast and durable in an outdoor context.
