The gas station would be built in the 11-acre triangle of land between the entrance and exit to the airport. George Abi Zeid, president of GAZ Realty, proposed a gas station, car wash and food court design on two acres. The project would incorporate green technology and the option for a pet hotel and cell phone lot near the convenience center.
Airport Management Group, which stood at the second place in the bidding process, proposed a 12,000 square feet green building with at least 12 gasoline pumps. The company proposed moving the cell phone lot to the entrance of the airport with solar canopies. The building, on three acres, would house rest rooms, a restaurant, outdoor play area, dog walk, and a business center with conference rooms.
The recommendation for the construction will be passed on to Lee County commissioners who will make the final decision.
