This would be the first significant renovation for the Spartan Stadium which was built in 1933.
The renovation project includes construction of the Vermeil-Walsh Athletic Complex in the north end zone of Spartan Stadium. The complex will replace the existing 1,700 seats with 1,350 premium and loge seats at the north end. The building will also span over the current visitors’ locker rooms.
Vermeil-Walsh Athletic Complex will accommodate new locker rooms, coaches’ offices, meeting rooms, a hall of fame, and athletic training facilities. The project will also add a new entry plaza and ticket windows to the west side of the stadium, and concession stands and restrooms on the north side.
Vermeil-Walsh Athletic Complex is expected to be the first phase of Spartan Stadium renovation project. The project would be financed privately and is expected to be completed in time for the 2015 football season.
