Like the rest of the hotel Andrew Winch Designs’ suite is carved entirely out of ice. It is designed to make guests feel that they are in the belly of a giant whale, and was inspired by the Blue Marine Foundation, a UK-based ocean conservation charity.
Icehotel opens to guests in December each year and is built from ice from the nearby River Torne. It remains open until the end of March, and melts back into the River Torne in April.
The 65 individually designed suites include a flora-inspired suite by Japanese designers Natsuki and Shingo Saito.
