The recent renovation of Brown Hall has enabled the nursing program to shift to a facility inside the campus. The new location offers a space three times as large as what thay had in their previous location.

Under the $15 million renovation scheme, the 75,000 square feet Brown Hall has received additional space and technological upgrades in order to allow nursing students to get hands-on training, according to Dr. Brenda Lenz, chair of the Department of Nursing Science.

The new space in Brown Hall is designed to house about twice as many hospital beds. It features two skills demonstration labs that can seat 50 students comfortably and rooms for simulating pediatric care, medication preparation, senior home care visits and critical care.

St. Cloud State University nursing program had been operating in a leased space in Waite Park building for more than 10 years. The location was about five miles from the campus. The building was found to be unfit to accommodate the program’s growing demand.
