In Steelcase’s showroom, which showcases its Coalesse and Designtex brands, architect Jennifer Luce of Luce et Studio was responsible for converting the 23,000-square-foot shared space to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design LEED standards.

The renovation reused existing materials and infrastructure, maximized exposure to natural light, improved air quality by utilizing low gas-emitting chemicals, and incorporated efficient electrical and plumbing equipment.

Meanwhile, Design Collaboratives was responsible for renovating Invista’s 1983 showroom. Most of the showroom’s original elements and furniture were converted into energy efficient products, along with the 600 feet existing millwork surfacing, floor-to-ceiling glass space dividers and several tables and chairs.

The renovation also made use of low-energy LED accent lighting, energy efficient appliances and renewable energy credits. Materials such as zero-VOC paints and adhesives and 100% recycled no-formaldehyde products were also used – although the final touch to the renovation was the addition of Invista’s own Antron environmentally friendly carpet.
