Designers William Welch and Martin Drury sought to bring into the design the manufacturing processes that go into creating flatware through pressing and grinding.
The Mahogany pattern combines satin and mirror finish in one piece to create a contemporary look and feel, which makes it suitable for both formal and informal settings. The top surface of the flatware heads are polished, while the underside of the spoons and forks are brushed satin.
The edges of the handles are finished with crafted radii to ensure a delicate ergonomic feeling to the hand, whilst the varying thickness gauges in the handles have been engineered for refined weight and balance.
Mahogany Flatware has been awarded the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2012, the iF Product Design Award 2012 and The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum Of Architecture And Design Good Design 2011 award.
Mahogany will be available to buy online from spring 2013 at www.studiowilliam.com.
