The design of 12X36 TRIO, which includes a master bedroom, kitchen with open living space, and a bathroom, seeks to optimize all aspects of design to get the most out of its 436 square feet space. The layout, orientation, furnishings and 10 feet ceilings offer a spacious look to this two room dwelling.
All services and storage / cabinetry are placed on the north side of the unit to allow for all the larger, flexible and ‘lived in’ spaces to open up towards large expanses of glass on the south side. This allows heat from the sun to warm the space in winter, while operable windows on both sides of the unit allow fresh air in for passive cooling and ventilation in summer.
The 12X36 TRIO home is completed with all millwork/cabinets, plumbing fixtures and appliances. All woods used for the construction are FSC-certified and formaldehyde-free. For exterior cladding and interior finish in the washroom, Western Red Cedar has been used, which provides an aesthetically pleasing ambiance and has a natural resistance to mold and rot.
