Falaknuma Palace or ‘Mirror of the Sky’, once the royal residence of Nizam Mehboob Ali Khan, is situated on a 2,000ft-high hill overlooking Hyderabad. It is a rare blend of Italian and Tudor architecture.

This magnificent palace, spread across 32 acres of manicured gardens, and which took nearly a decade to build, has undergone a meticulous ten-year restoration. The new Taj Falaknuma Palace, opened on 7 November 2010, offers 60 exquisite rooms, including a Grand Presidential Suite, two restaurants, ‘Celeste’ – Italian and Mediterranean cuisine and ‘Adaa’ – Indian fine dining; an outdoor pool and the Royal Jiva Spa. The beautifully detailed rooms and suites are complete with every convenience from state-of-the-art amenities to a personal butler.

Taj Falaknuma Palace, Hyderabad features Luxury Rooms, Palace Rooms, Historical Suites, Historical Suites, Grand Royal Suites, and Grand Presidential Suites.

Extensive renovation was carried out under the guidance of Princess Esra of Hyderabad, to bring the palace back to its original magnificence. The ornate inlaid furniture, intricate frescos with English, as well as Indian influences, the finest collection of jade and rich handcrafted tapestries and brocades from France, together give the palace its distinct Baroque style.

Once the sole preserve of visiting royalty, including Edward VIII and the last Russian Tsar, Nicholas 11, the palace has recommenced its status as Hyderabad’s most exclusive address and gives guests a glimpse of the royal lifestyle of the Nizams, who once governed the city.
