The Talkatora stadium would be hosting the Commonwealth boxing championship on March 10, 2010. The facility recently underwent an INR8 million ($0.17 million approx.) renovation and has been upgraded with facilities such as acoustic ceiling, score boards, video screens, sports lighting and CCTV cameras. It has a seating capacity for 2,700 people.
Improvements also include the installation of heat reflective glass, and rain water harvesting has also been done. The first floor is slated to have a doping control office, federation office, technical official lounge, committee office, meeting room and changing room. The second floor would have the conference room, media lounge, venue manager’s office, security command with CCTV monitor room, ticket desk and media work area. The third and fourth floors would have the catering section.
After the Commonwealth games, this facility would be used for socio-cultural and official purposes.
