The project designed and developed by Hardin Construction to be carried out in phases will provide a contemporary and open-plan design to the terminal building. Work will include installation of new hard flooring materials in various new airside facilities as well as the baggage claim floor. The business offices and meeting areas of the Aviation Authority will be revamped whereas there will be creation of new customer outreach centres in the third storey and new tourism centres.
The waiting zone on the third floor of the upgraded terminal will be fitted with seating arrangements, TV viewing areas as well as display spaces. A total of 16 restrooms encompassing three floors of the building will also undergo an overhaul as part of the project and will be equipped with new durable materials. Other features of the main terminal post facelift include creation of an USO facility, shifting and upgrades to its chapel as well as improving the signage. Work is due for completion by mid-2013.
