The 7,000-square-foot showroom is located at 1010 Sainte-Catherine Street West in The Dominion Square Building, a landmark structure situated in downtown Montreal.
The showroom is a vibrant, light-filled space, which has been redesigned to reflect the French culture of Montreal through a traditional French brocade pattern. A modern interpretation of the culture was embued through manipulating a high-tech modern dot pattern in the feature screen walls. These patterned screen walls were made through reverse stencil cut out of ¼-inch-thick aluminum panels. These were then finished in white. To further enhance the reflection of natural light, walls were removed to open up the space and a white, light material palette was employed.
The overall palette creates a neutral stage to highlight Teknion’s product offering, while at the same time avoiding visual clutter. The design of the space features intelligent use of space, light and material resources. Eco-sensitive materials were used throughout, along with sustainable wood and wall finishes.
Teknion’s own products were employed at the showroom to create various areas. Full-height Altos and Optos architectural products were used to develop a boardroom, conference room, kitchen and private offices. They were also employed at the exterior demising walls to delineate the building’s common floor area and the Teknion showroom space. All Teknion office furniture is made with materials and finishing methods which are certified to GREENGUARD indoor air quality standards.
The showroom has been registered with the Canadian Green Building Council with the certification goal of LEED-CI Platinum. It was opened on 13 September 2012.
