Located on the 1137 North H street in the Flower Valley Plaza, the project, which is nearing completion, involves tearing down the wall in between the original location and the unit next door, laying new floors, painting the walls, and installing new shelving.

Further plans include the addition of a children’s section, more space for local authors and book signings, and displaying local artists’ works. As the city rules do not allow shelving to be above six feet for seismic reasons, the space is being used for the artists. Gaps have also been created between shelves to display works.

The store would be ready by the end of January 2010 and did not undergo any losses as it was fully functional during the three days of its renovation.

The owner, Leslie Sevier has been looking for various options of generating funds for the store’s renovations. One of the options is the renaming of the store, as it would help the customers identify with it. She also said that the store needs to be promoted well so that more people would come and purchase books.

The store also has a book club meeting once a month and she hopes to start another. Sevier also hopes on adding a new ‘mystery night’ once a month.
