If you fancy some lightducation and inspiration, you're in the right place. The Light School is back at the Surface Design Show 2017 for the fourth year running and is guaranteed to be your best school day ever.

Light is a vital partner to surface design which can have a significant influence on the way we design. The Light School allows visitors to discover the latest in architectural lighting design and learn about the important relationship between surface and light.

The school is supported by the Institute of Lighting Professionals consisting of three parts: Light Talks, Product School and the School Newspaper.

Lighting designers are joining forces with the School Room, which will host Light Talks sponsored by Luctra, giving visitors the opportunity to meet some of the UK’s leading lighting designers. The speakers will include, David Atkinson of David Atkinson Lighting Design, Sanjit Bahra of Design Plus Light, Ellie Coombs of Nulty, Rebecca Weir of Light IQ and Sally Storey of Lighting Design International.

Once visitors make their way through the School Room, the Product School will be on hand to educate visitors on the latest innovations in lighting. The comprehensive review will allow guests to get involved by touching and comparing products from a selection of exciting exhibitors, including Spectral, Applelec, Optelma, Baro, Wila, Evans Turner, Visive, Selux and Lumiscopic. Plenty of inspiration promised throughout!

Before leaving, don’t forget to pick up a Light School Newspaper. The paper, sponsored by Xicato, is a free newspaper sent out to over 70,000 architects, designers and specifiers. The paper contains a lot of information on lighting design and exclusive interviews with your lecturers, leaving you brighter and truly inspired by light.

Make sure you pay a visit from 7-9 February at the London Design Centre. This ‘school day’ won’t be like any other day.
