Fabric and wallpaper from Scottish design brand Timorous Beasties has been incorporated into the interior design of Mar Hall Golf & Spa Resort, a five-star luxury hotel in Glasgow.

The bar features Timorous Beasties Bloomsbury Garden wallpaper in Smokey Teal. Other designs include Pineapple wallpaper and Zig Zag Moth velvet fabric. The hotel’s suites showcase Tropical Clouded Leopard fabric.

Jim Hamilton, creative director at Graven, and Lisa King, design director at Align Partners, led the project.

Alistair McAuley, co-Founder of Timorous Beasties, stated: ‘It has been a great privilege to collaborate with Graven and Mar Hall on the interiors of the hotel that has a rich Scottish history. The generous proportions of the building have allowed us to bring our bold and intricate designs to life. Together we have developed an interior scheme that reflects the luxury offering of the hotel and showcases the breadth of our diverse range of wallpaper and fabric designs.’

Hamilton commented: ‘We have a longstanding relationship with Timorous Beasties and have worked together on many projects over the years. Their work always adds a cutting edge to the spaces we create – avant garde, beautifully crafted, and beautifully drawn. Their designs throughout Mar Hall perfectly juxtapose the impressive Victorian architecture of the hotel. Their contemporary wallpapers and fabrics play a very important role in fusing the old with the new – a true celebration of modern Scottish design.’

Andy Roger, Mar Hall resort director, added: ‘We’ve long admired the Timorous Beasties’ philosophy and creative direction, and are thrilled with the vision we’ve realised together for Mar Hall – from the wallpapers to the soft furnishings, each piece has been thoughtfully curated to play a vital part in the property’s transformation. With Glaswegian roots and bold, contemporary designs, the new aesthetic strongly reflects Mar Hall’s vibrant repositioning, whilst preserving our cultural heritage.’
