The design features one wall looping over the roof and down the other side to become a first floor terrace. The building has a steel frame covered with metal panels.
The designers have brought about the concept of ‘micro design’ through this project. Micro design utilizes parametric modeling software, which can respond to very small changes to design input criteria, which was used in issues such as maximizing ventilation, views and efficiency of structure and minimizing impacts to neighbors views and overshadowing. The use of the micro design was needed to maintain requirements regarding view and solar corridors. A dynamic model was created to respond to the changes in variables, also allowing the models to run in real time.
The house needed to be detailed and documented entirely in three dimensions. The steel frame house is clad in metal panels which were pre-cut in China. In a traditional house the floor and walls are built first and the roof is added.
The house has a fluidity of space which is a result of its relationship with the surroundings. The house features a complex geometry, for which a new system of fabrication and assembly was needed, and as stated by the designers, the design of the house is similar to that of a car.
