The building is the first on the UCR campus to bag the certification. The facility spans 58,000 square feet over three floors and offers flexible biomedical and population health research facilities. It imbibes a wide array of green features. They include the automatic solar shades which are capable of measuring the amount of light entering inside a room and deploy as per requirement.
The ceiling fans installed in the building reduce heating and cooling costs. The building has also been equipped with LED lighting fixtures which cut down its energy consumption. Incorporation of natural habitat landscaping in place of turfgrass further contributes to the sustainability of the facility.
