SCRM is a three storey building with 96,000 feet of state-of-the-art technical research bio-medical facilities. It will be the first building on the 100-acre Edinburgh BioQuarter site at Little France, which will eventually provide 1.4 million feet of biomedical and research and development facilities. Total investment is expected to exceed some GBP600 million ($844 million).
SCRM will bring together 250 academic researchers. The center has attracted world class expertise to work towards medical therapies for diseases of the blood, bone, brain and liver. This includes research into motor neuron disease, multiple sclerosis and liver cirrhosis.
Brian McQuade, joint managing director of Miller Construction (UK) Ltd, says, “We are delighted to have been awarded this contract from the University of Edinburgh. This is a prestigious building on an important site which will further enhance the University’s reputation for global leadership in this field.”
