According to Alex Judd, vice president of operations and finance of students’ union at the university in Alberta (Canada), the renovation will add 200 seats, two food vendors and the option of studying during the day.
He says that based on student’s need for more space to study, socialize and more options for food court; they thought of opening up the space to make Mac Hall more inviting and continue to be a good space for students to come.
The union is presently seeking approval of the plans for the 7400 square feet renovation through the Student Legal Assistance levy. Post approval, the union will think of raising $1.1 million for the renovations.
Judd said this will be raised by a quality money grant, a loan and the union’s capital development fund. Construction would start in the beginning of the spring term.
