The first Sustainable Interior Showroom at Navy Broadway Complex in San Diego, California showcases furniture, floor covering, wall applications and lighting options for indoor.
The showroom was created to support the efforts of Navy Region Southwest to achieve zero new waste by 2025.
“In keeping with my policy to move our region toward zero waste, all products in the showroom, once they reach the end of their service life, will be taken back by the manufacturer to be recycled into new products,” said Rear Admiral Len R. Hering senior commander, Navy Region Southwest.
The showroom is a demonstration area and product library designed for employees to test the sustainability of office furniture and examine interior office finishes before determining which products best meet their requirements for work space application.
“The Sustainable Interior Showroom displays the highest quality, eco-friendly office furniture and furnishings available to the federal government,” said Rear administrator and Len R. Hering senior commander, Navy Region Southwest.
“The showroom extends to this exterior area featuring permeable concrete that minimizes storm-water runoff. This outdoor area also displays lightweight recycled Eco-Lite panels for sound suppression, outdoor recycled plastic furniture, Xeriscape plants, recycled content planter boxes, recycled concrete content awnings and shade screens, as well as various concrete surface applications,” Admiral Hering said.
