Marie is one of the recently launched yachts by Vitters Shipyard. The use of modern technology and latest knowledge in rigging resulted in a knot above true wind speed during the first sailing trips. Marie has an advanced hydraulic system located below deck, which controls the captive and drum winches, bow and stern thrusters and other hydraulic functions. All these are controlled with an in-house developed PLC-system.
Marie’s interior is designed by David Easton Design together with Hoek Design. The interior space is distinct for a specific privacy concept. The aft owner’s cabin is directly connected to an owner’s deckhouse and aft cockpit. The two helm stations are incorporated in the main cockpit forward of the owner’s deckhouse. The main design inspiration for the main salon has been the unique collection of antiquities on board and the ‘Baby Grand Steinway’.
David Easton has blended traditional lines and elements with a light type of wood, Anigré, which is rarely seen on board of traditional yachts. The light and airy interior has been designed in such a way that it also maintains the traditional atmosphere of a classic sailing yacht.
The swimming and landing platform on port side form one of the specific features on board. This platform has been designed to fold down and the side-boarding ladder that can be used to access the platform. This arrangement has been incorporated to foster easy boarding and unloading of a tender, and can also be used for swimming and diving. The diving equipment is housed in a locker, accessible directly from the platform. The hull of the yacht was built in-house at the Vitters facilities using Alustar aluminium.
Marie’s traditional lines have been optimised using modern tank test facilities and simulations. The carbon fibre masts can carry up to 3300 square metre of sail, with infurling booms for main and mizzen sails.
Marie is the result of a collaborative effort by Vitters Shipyard, Hoek Design and Nigel Ingram, a team that also made sailing yachts like the triple award-winning Adèle and Erica XII.
