Orkys is a virtual orchid which features five long, rectangular leaves that are black in color, displaying a checked pattern, and is connected to a round base that attaches the lamp to a table. Small flowers ‘bloom’ from a slender stem arising at the base of the lamp. From the axils of the flowers arises a group of oval shaped, white-colored petals which produces light.
Orkys acquires energy from the sun and stores it on its on-board batteries. Its leaves comprise photovoltaic cells which in turn light its petals which are adaptable to the intensity of the light. The glow of the light can be changed according to the atmosphere by simply adjusting the petals of the flower, which revolve to dim or increase the light.
Orkys is designed to create awareness toward a greener future, one petal at a time, and acts as an eco-friendly lamp without an inflated electricity bill.
