The remodeling is undertaken to make the store more open and bright. Post renovation, the store will feature new flooring, energy-efficient LED lighting and wider aisles. The tiles which will be pulled out of the store will be recycled and reused as new tiles for other projects in other stores. Bathrooms will sport a new look after the remodeling. The entire store is being repainted with a bright color scheme. The grocery section of the store features new goldenrod color.
Remodeling also includes makeover of different departments inside the store, wider aisles and lower shelves to giving entirely new look to some departments. The size of the electronics department will be doubled with the expansion of the digital camera, computer and video gaming sections.
The fresh area of the store – which includes produce, baked goods and the deli – will feature low-profile tables to make items more accessible to customers. Refrigeration units are also being replaced in the grocery section. All clothing apparel will be moved to one section with shoes and jewelry to make these items easier to find. A temporary pharmacy has been constructed near the north entrance with the work progressing on the current pharmacy. Once completed, the temporary pharmacy structure will house the vision center.
The store remains open during this remodeling phase with most of the construction taking place overnight.
The re-opening of the store is slated for June 2010.
