The six-story horseshoe-shaped Whiston Hospital features a Costa Coffee and a rooftop restaurant. Children’s wards are designed with colorful artwork of seaside, parks and animals. The patients will have their own en-suite room. Every ward will have a maximum of four beds.
Every floor has a different color to prevent patients getting lost. There are 400 individual en suite patient bedrooms and 5,000 individually designed rooms. The building has 225,000 meters of wiring and 38,000 meters of pipe work.
The technologies available at the hospital include two new CT scanners and an MRI scanner and theaters.
