TaiKoo Place is a commercial complex, which consists of nine office towers: Devon House, Dorset House, PCCW Tower, Warwick House, Cornwall House, Somerset House, Lincoln House, Oxford House, Cambridge House and One Island East. The Island East development stretches from Cityplaza and TaiKoo Place, which is owned and managed by Swire Properties.
OIE has 59 stories of habitable office space and two basement levels. The building has 70 floors with a sky lobby on the 37th and 38th floors. The tower is connected to TaiKoo Place by an elevated walkway system, featuring link bridges with access to office buildings and the MTR station.
The building has reduced footprint and offers a 5,500 square meter landscaped garden with improved space for pedestrians. The tower features a central core square with four rounded corners orientated at 45 degree. The space creates a spatial relationship with adjacent buildings.
The north and south corners are designed to provide harbor views, while the east and west corners offer views of the open space at the base. The upper lobby is suspended from the ceiling and appears as a floating gallery. The wall and ceiling have a timber finish. Full-height glazing of the tower provides natural lighting. The office has a floor area of 2,300 square meter with height of 4,025mm.
The 1.5 million square feet building will also feature Butterfield’s private club & conferencing facilities, Cityplaza shopping center with over 180 shops, over 60 restaurants & cafés, new hotel with over 300 rooms, alfresco dining & park facilities and an international renowned public art collection on permanent display.
The building is the sixth skyscraper, over 1,000 feet tall, completed in Hong Kong. OIE has already found place in the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat’s (CTBUH) list of ‘ten tallest buildings’.
