The jury evaluated how environmental strategies, systems and technologies are integrated in an imaginative manner, ensuing in a user-centric architecture that is both functional and aesthetically appealing. Woodhead’s design has not only contributed to the development of sustainable office design but also provided a corporate bench mark for the design of Fujitu’s future global workplace. The project has also achieved world’s best practice in environmental sustainable design with a five-star NABERS rating.
Woodhead adopted a strategy to design and deliver sustainable outcomes with minimal impact on the base building. Materials were researched and selected for their full VOC Green Star credits including paints, carpets, adhesives, sealants, work stations, chairs and tables. Water efficiency was assisted through the selection of highly efficient dishwashers, fixtures and fittings. A digital media center is located adjacent to reception, designed to showcase the company’s new technologies in a darkened gallery space, complete with motion sensors to enhance the experience.
The new space features abundance of natural light, fresh air and transparency. The layout is designed in such a way that people feel connected to each other. Further to that Fujitsu has noticed a 42% decrease in absenteeism since moving into their new premises.
